about

Liana Pearl's Debut EP Liquid Gold, has been recorded and produced with the intention of reflecting various personal experiences in her life. In her title track 'Liquid Gold' Liana draws on the idea of presence, surrender and letting go. This creation was given birth from her experience of floating in a sensory deprivation tank; a device aimed to induce a deep state of meditation. The sound production by Fabian Aravales, creates a soundscape of nature and electronics, featuring his guitar work and Liana on the Harp.

'No Excuses' is an rnb style track, inspired by Alicia Keys. Upon Liana's return from her travels to South America in 2014, she reflected upon the fact that as humans, we have the knowledge and tools to change our reality and that we should not continue to live our lives as bystanders. This track features pianist Rob Pallot on Grand Piano and Rhodes.

The track entitled 'Mind,' holds much significance to Liana. Having worked in the Community Health Sector as an Occupational Therapist providing psychosocial rehabilitation to people experiencing Mental Illness for 3 years, she felt the need to depict what this experience may be like for someone. She voices the importance of having someone supportive to 'figure out' the complexities of the mind. This track features Liana on Harp and Dream Drum.

Finally, 'Burning Temple,' written early 2016, is inspired by a story from the television series 'Belief,' produced and hosted by Oprah Winfrey. When a family of 4 was torn apart (after mother passing away of cancer and daughter, in an aeroplane crash in Nepal), the remaining family members were left to grieve with deep wounds in their hearts. Their healing journey took place at Burning Man Festival, where they posted a memoir of their loved ones in a geometric wooden temple that was eventually burnt to the ground by Day #7. On this day, the daughter commented on the rising ash, embers and flame - "it's as though my sister has risen back up to the sky and is flying again."
